Does your community have a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and looking for $10M in funding (with a 25% match), or would your community like to develop or update a CWPP with $250K in funding (with a 10% match)?
As Authorized under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service announced the availability of up to $1 billion in grant funding, appropriated under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, for the establishment of the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CDWG) Program.
Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network has created an incredible summary for the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (link below). The attached CWDG Decision Tree allows you to follow the decision processes, and the links show your community’s priority rankings and how to connect with your relevant State CWPP Representative.
If you are a local government, Tribe, non-profit organization (including Homeowners Associations), State forestry agency, or Alaska Native Corporation who is considering:
– The development and revision of Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
– The implementation of projects described in a Community Wildfire Protection Plan that is less than ten years old.
Then please follow the below Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network links to become better informed.
Integration of Bushfire Mesh into your CWDG and CWPP:
While direct Home Hardening seems to now be precluded from the CDWG, Bushfire Mesh is pleased to work with all CDWG to show how other applications, including Bushire Mesh Perimeter Fencing (a fire break for critical infrastructure), can be integrated into a CWPP.
For new and updated CWPP’s, it is imperative that Home Hardening is included and
implemented in a communities long-term plans. Bushfire Mesh is happy to provide product information and application guides for new and updated CWPP’s. The versatility and cost-efficiency of Bushfire Mesh will allow a community (with a set level of funding) to be better protected by significantly increasing the number of homes and buildings they can harden against Wildfires.
