CHINO HILLS, CA
A Spanish-inspired home in a gated community. The property is on top of a Canyon with wildfire exposure running up the canyon walls.
The homeowner, who understands his exposure, not only hardened his home with installing Bushfire Mesh Shields on his vents but also created a defensible space in line with IBHS’ Wildfire Prepared Home program. This was the first home in Southern CA to receive the Wildfire Prepared Home Designation.
The homeowner decided to look beyond codes, and strived for Best Practises. This included spraying Phos Check, a long-term fire retardant on the hill slope, while also installing a Bushfire Mesh Shield Perimeter Fence.
The homeowner understood that a fire will move faster up a hill, due to the heat drying out the forward vegetation. The Bushfire Mesh Shield Perimeter Fence
benefits of Ember Defense and Radiant Heat Reduction met and exceeded his requirements.
